The Shining (Halloween Dinner and a Movie)

To celebrate the coming of Halloween, I’m going to post a must see scary movie and dinner accompaniment to get into the spirit of the Holiday, every day until Halloween. Boo.

I’m going to start with a classic.

The Shining

Directed by Stanley Kubrick and based on the book by Stephen King, you might never want to stay at another Hotel again. I won’t spoil the movie for you, in case you haven’t seen it, but it involves a haunted hotel and stars Jack Nicholson.

Stephen King went on record to say he did not like this version, since it strays so far from the book, but it does not make this movie any less scary. The cinematography and mood is everything that Kubrick’s name is known for.

Since you’re stranded in a haunted hotel tonight, in the middle of a snowstorm, unfortunately canned food is what we have to work with.

Spam Fried Rice, The Daily Meal

Cecily Wong

Check out this recipe for Spam Fried Rice. Spam might have gotten a bad name but in fried rice it adds a nice salty flavor. In Hawaii Spam is treasured, so how bad can it be really?

Bourbon on the Rocks

Bourbon, Bulleit is decent for the price if your bargain hunting. I personally like Knob Creek.

  1. Fill a small whiskey glass with some ice halfway
  2. Pour in Bourbon
